Five months ago, Nvidia released new RTX Turing video cards with new ray tracing and anti-aliasing features. And as a result of the glut of the Pascal architecture GPU market, Nvidia was forced to admit that the RTX 2080 and 2070 sold very, very so-so.
The company hopes to help save the GTX 1660 Ti situation, which uses Turing architecture. The result is a video card with a higher clock speed, better power consumption and higher performance for its price.
If you believe the rumors and the first reviews, then the GTX 1660 Ti is something between an RTX 2060 and a GTX 1060. The cost of $ 279 is still higher than the original GTX 1060 ($ 249), but this is not as big a difference generations turing.
AMD video cards compete with 6 GB RAM, which in the same price range now have 8 GB, but GDDR6 is faster. And the TU116 GPU is more energy efficient than the GP106 on the GTX 1060.
The GTX 1660 Ti is the only video card with Turing, which in terms of cost offers an increase in performance. The problem is that Nvidia overcharged Turing compared to Pascal counterparts. Because of this, gamers had to choose between buying RTX without additional performance for as much as they gave for the previous GTX or even more for top models. The second option makes sense if you use a monitor with a high refresh rate, which we have already mentioned in other articles.
