What is Venmo, how does it work and where is it available?

Venmo is a mobile payment service owned by PayPal. It allows users to transfer money to one another using a mobile device or computer. To use Venmo, individuals must create an account and link it to a bank account or credit/debit card. Once linked, users can send money to other Venmo users by entering their phone number or email address, or by scanning their unique Venmo QR code. Venmo also has a social aspect, where users can share their transactions with friends and add emojis and comments. Venmo is available in the United States and can be used to make purchases at select merchants.
