There are trees, so we are

With increasing environmental pollution and the very obvious threats of climate change, there is a dire need for plantations in Pakistan at this time to widen the scope of greenery. On the other hand, non-governmental organizations are playing their role to the best of their ability, but there are some people who have made it their mission not only to plant plantations, but also to give green clothing to the country. are

One of these personalities is Khizruli Chishti, who has proved himself as a ‘green hero’ despite his physical difficulties and limitations.

Khizruli Chishti was barely two or three years old when polio was discovered in him and his movement and movement became limited. Despite all the difficulties, he completed his education up to M.Sc. Even sold his laptop for plantation.

Khizr Wali’s early childhood was spent either sitting in one place or he was running around trying to walk on all fours after seeing his friends and this process continued till he was ten years old. Meanwhile, they befriended a neem tree in their courtyard as both were forced to stay in one place. Born in Chishtian village of Pakpattan district, Khizr Wali saw and felt the plants, flowers, butterflies and birds in the village environment. Here he got a special attachment to Ashjar. He then started walking with crutches and completed teaching, even doing an MSc in Geography from Khawaja Bahauddin Zakaria University.

On introduction to the importance of trees in geography, environment and climate change, he started planting trees in 2014. He had no rudimentary knowledge and no experience even while buying plantations with his own money. Thus, money, labor and time were wasted as most of the plants were withered.

In 2017, Khizruli Chishti established a privately-owned free plant nursery in Pakistan that still distributes seeds, cuttings and seedlings to the public. Thus the journey started with six Moringa plants in a tray continued to flourish and now this nursery can produce 50 thousand plants annually. Among the plants, only quality and native plants and trees are given importance.

On Khizruli Chishti’s birthday in 2020, his friends based in Australia named Miyawaki Forest after him, which is also an honor for him. After that, more awards and honors were received which is still going on.

In the month of October 2021, Khizruli Chishti organized Mela Ashjaar (Tree Festival) in which children and adults were made aware of gardening, kitchen gardening, environmental awareness, distribution of plants and other issues. Although he has planted more than 100,000 trees so far, his goal is to achieve the target of 1 crore trees within his lifetime.

‘My mission is to plant 50 thousand saplings in 2023. This year I want to visit 100 cities of Pakistan and plant saplings. In addition to giving environmental awareness to people, I also intend to plant 50,000 more saplings, he said.

Khizroli also faced discouraging obstacles, being called bad names and told that he could do nothing in life. Someone told his parents that this is a special child who would benefit from being taught tailoring etc. But in spite of being on crutches, he has planted more than 100,000 trees on his feet. Even other new volunteers now seek guidance from him.

Recently they have created their first Miyawaki Forest and plan to grow Miyawaki Forest on one acre soon.
