Screenshot on Mac

There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac:

  1. To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Command + Shift + 3. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop as a .png file.
  2. To take a screenshot of a selected portion of your screen, press Command + Shift + 4. Your cursor will turn into a crosshair, which you can use to select the area of the screen that you want to capture. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop as a .png file.
  3. To take a screenshot of a specific window, press Command + Shift + 4, then press the Spacebar. Your cursor will turn into a camera, which you can use to select the window that you want to capture. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop as a .png file.
  4. To take a screenshot and copy it to clipboard (so you can paste it in other applications), press Command + Control + Shift + 3 or 4.

Additionally, on macOS Mojave and later version, a Screenshot app is available that allows you to take screenshots, record screen and more.
