The dead pitch in Rawalpindi was made by the team management themselves, they were worried about the failure of their own batting line on the supporting pitch.
The first Test of the series between Pakistan and Australia was played on a lifeless pitch in which there was no help for the bowlers, which has been widely criticized.
Sources said the team’s think tank, including head coach Thaqleen Mushtaq and captain Babar Azam, had asked the PCB to make a simple pitch, with inexperienced openers and in the absence of many experienced pacers, they did not want that. Sporting pitches were made, they feared the team’s failure, usually the pitch of Rawalpindi helps the pacers but considering the strong Australian bowling line, this time it was ensured that it did not happen.
It may be recalled that last year the Rawalpindi Test against South Africa ended in a 95-run victory for Pakistan on the last day. In the match, Pace Hassan Ali took 5.5 wickets in both the innings. Proteas pacer Norkia and spinner Lande also made five catches, Mohammad Rizwan and Markram also made centuries, but now the pitch of the same ground has become completely flat which is a surprise to everyone.
Noman Ali’s excellent performance in Rawalpindi gave the team management the courage to prepare a spin track for the Karachi Test. However, the pitch at the National Stadium traditionally helps slow bowlers, and this time around it will be possible.
