If we want to translate edge tampering into our language, it can be called age printing. The disease of hiding one’s age is usually associated with women, which also has an aspect of authenticity to some extent. Especially if the women belong to the showbiz industry then the disease gets a little bit more and in this regard when women celebrate their birthday only the month and date are brought to the fore and the number of the year on their birthday. It is thrown out like a bee out of milk.
For the first time in our lives we heard the word “tampering” in reference to “ball tampering” which was due to our attachment to cricket and how ball tampering can harm the batting of the opposing team. The word later came up in various contexts and our hearings benefited from valuable words such as “paper tampering”, “result tampering”, “relationship tampering” and “edge tampering”.
A few days ago, I read a news item in a newspaper which was titled “The real characters of Edge Tampering should be brought to light”. But the Under-Thirteen and Under-Sixteen tournaments were postponed. According to Director High Performance Center Nadeem Khan, overweight players cannot be allowed to take advantage of flaws in the system and discourage deserving players.
This simply means that older players reduce their age to participate in the U-13 and U-16 tournaments, because the age cannot be reduced by itself but through one of the current methods used in Pakistan. These players would have been included in the tournament only after submitting their credentials to the board. Now, on the one hand, there is an element of dishonesty and corruption on the part of older players and on the other hand, the players who were entitled to participate in these tournaments have been deprived of it. There is no room for any doubt in his boldness and dishonesty.
Now the good news for women here is that if they hide their age then men also increase or decrease their age from the actual age as required and obviously this is not a job to be done sitting at home, but for it. The help of black sheep in the relevant institutions has to be sought and this help is given for the sake of those haraam ticks which never stay with any human being forever. But what can be done that this culture of corruption, patronage and nepotism has infiltrated the veins of our society in such a way that now even the worst and biggest news in this regard does not touch our hearts and minds. We accept every evil just as the need of the hour, because of which evil no longer shakes anyone’s conscience and in this system we are all jumping around with our own interests. The rest of our society and country is under the protection of Allah, nothing will happen to him.
This disease of age tampering is not a small thing but it is on par with a contagious disease like cancer. Somewhere they are hollowing out the foundations of our society and country and no one here cares about that.
Older people join a tournament by reducing their age. Pakistanis who want to go abroad, sometimes their age is more or less according to the job, so they can change their age according to the need. This facility is also used to bring one’s age within the required period for employment in any part of the country. Raising the age to a couple of years to get a pension or to take advantage of any scheme is not like bringing a gambling lion for someone, but there are many people who walk around with two identity cards.
There is hardly a department where the public does not have access to the facilities they need, just your pockets should be heavy or there is something in your support that no one can ignore or someone close to you. Works in this department.
There will be someone who will pull their reins, there will be someone who will eradicate diseases like fistula from the country and there will be someone who will put the country on the right track.
Before concluding, I would like to give you a small example of “Edge Tempering” which should be taken lightly. If a woman feels unwell, go to the hospital. After the check-up, the doctor prescribed the injection and before the injection, the woman was asked about her age and she said 24 years. The doctor said, “Look, lady, I have to take medicine for this injection according to your age so that there is no harm.” She said, “I am 28 years old.” The doctor then said, “Think again, this injection is dangerous, and if the dose is too low, it can be life threatening.” Let the woman speak on this. Dr. Sahib is telling me for the last time that I am 34 years old and now even if I die, I will not extend even one year.
Our tragedy is that we are suffering from the disease of individualism in terms of government, that is why the influence of personalities is increasing and the institutions cannot tolerate their dominance The series continues as to who has the opportunity to disrespect the king’s peace. If the focus in this country was on strengthening institutions rather than personalities, then everything would be done according to a set of rules and the rightful owner would get the right. But now we have to go to great lengths to reach this system of transparency and merit.
