Yesterday, a news item came to light that ” Sarah Gill became the first eunuch doctor of Pakistan “. When this news was posted on social media, the majority of the comments were made with some words of praise in which the traditional ridiculous attitude towards eunuchs was adopted.
The main theme of the post was about making eunuchs a unique place in society despite their difficulties and social inequality. She also posted a video of Dr. Sarah Gul in which she expressed her happiness at becoming a doctor and thanked the critics including her colleagues.
But even on this post, some people, while showering their mountains of wisdom, declared only eunuchs to be disgraced and a scourge of the society. It is unfortunate that most of the protesters were people whose profile picture was raining down and whose posts on the wall were seen teaching ethics and Islamic teachings. How can a person who makes such good posts be so “extremist” and “closed-minded”?

This is another dark aspect of our society, where everyone becomes a conqueror of speech but not a conqueror of character. It is easy to sit in front of your computer and teach ethics in long and wide posts, but they find it difficult to demonstrate the same ethics in practice. It is a common practice in our society to criticize an eunuch, to point fingers at his character without meeting and knowing.
The majority of the society has adopted the same thinking that every eunuch is a victim of moral decay and is responsible for perverted sexual acts in the society due to which today’s youth are deteriorating morally and so on. But the reality is quite the opposite. No one is thinking of putting themselves in the place of these eunuchs. Can you imagine that a creation in which you have no involvement, and therefore expel not only this society but also your own, will be able to survey the society after such behavior?
Most people who speak out against eunuchs are of the opinion that if the creator has any shortcomings in these eunuchs, then be patient with them and continue to worship within the confines of the house till the last time. ۔ And Allah will reward them for their patience and gratitude in the Hereafter. But according to him, these eunuchs do not have the right to live a normal life in the society. Society does not have the right to come out of the house and get education and make a name for itself like ordinary people. Because by doing so, these eunuchs will be guilty of spreading obscenity in the society. But when these intellectuals are asked why only eunuchs are guilty of the “obscenity” they are talking about? When the clap rings with both hands, these gentlemen bring up endless arguments, or stand on the signals, or invite sinners in the darkness of night, to give examples of the majority of them.
Yes, there is no denying the existence of such eunuchs who, due to the expulsion of the same society and their relatives, go from place to place begging or dancing to seduce the people and fill their stomachs. And there are eunuchs who, by doing sex work, are ruining the moral values of their society, according to them. But not every eunuch is like that and keep in mind that you don’t have to be an eunuch to trade the body. If a person belonging to any gender wants to “sell” himself, there are many easy ways for him in our society. In such a case, it would be an insult to every member of this community to accuse eunuchs of engaging in prostitution or sexual activity.
The real eunuchs are still struggling to find their identity, trying to find their place in society. They are concerned about earning a decent living by washing away the stigma attached to their community. Some are studying to become beauticians, some are dancers, some are actors, some are lawyers and some are doctors. But even in reaching this honorable place, the same society and its patrons are the only “closed minds” who do not consider an eunuch worthy of standing by them. Those who do not understand that an eunuch is a human being just like them.
Dr. Sarah Gul also faced immense difficulties in her educational journey. Today, Sara runs a non-governmental organization called the Gender Interactive Alliance for the welfare of the transgender class in Pakistan. She has a distinct identity in her community and wants all eunuchs in her community to get an education. Because she believes that eunuchs can remove the stigma attached to themselves from the light of education.
Dr. Sarah Gul has faced immense struggle and social opposition to reach this place. Critics of eunuchs can never imagine the stages and ridiculous attitudes an eunuch faces in society, from getting out of the house, to getting a decent job. How the so-called “honorable” people of this society repeatedly sexually exploit these eunuchs. Such people have never been in contact with real eunuchs. They issue these fatwas only after meeting the wrong representatives of this community by going to the wrong place on the basis of hearsay or their own hobbies. Such people have to get out of the closed well.
I have written some articles on eunuchs before. Those who knew him also objected that why these topics? It was also joked about my special relationship with the class I am writing in support of. My subject has been society and psychology, and the subject of psychology is incomplete without sex. I also kept in touch with the transgender community because of my work and affiliation with NGOs. Apart from Dr. Sarah Gul, other trans-activist personalities were also interviewed. And I find these people to be very different from the thinking that has been created in our society specifically about the transgender community.
Our society needs to change its thinking. People have to understand that eunuchs are also human beings, members of the same society. It is also hidden in the attitudes of this society to corrupt or correct them morally. Eunuchs are no less capable than any other man or woman. It’s just a matter of opportunities. If we accept eunuchs in the society in the same way, without hindering their education and other avenues, then they too can prove to be useful members of the society.
