Germany considers banning telegrams

The German government is considering banning the mobile messaging app “Telegram” for allegedly spreading hate speech.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, Germany has accused the telegram of spreading hate speech and conspiracy theories in the country while negative thinkers are using the app to spread their views. Are

The report states that anti-vaccine groups are operating on the app against which Germany has also lodged a complaint with the app authorities but no action has been taken so far.
The spread of conspiracy theories in Germany grew at a time when the German parliament was considering in recent weeks to make the corona vaccine mandatory in the country.

Last month, government officials received death threats. The governor of the German state of Saxony was also threatened with dire consequences by the Telegram group.

German Interior Minister Nancy has warned that if the telegram administration does not take effective measures to curb hate speech and misleading content, the app could be banned in Germany in addition to heavy fines.
