The United States has announced the closure of the Afghan embassy in Washington.
According to Arab media, the US government has informed the Afghan diplomats about the decision to close the Afghan embassy in Washington. The Afghan consulates in Los Angeles and New York will also be closed.
The US government has also decided to withdraw the immunity granted to Afghan diplomats. A memo on US government decisions was sent to Afghan diplomats earlier this week.
A State Department official told Arab media that there had been no change in the status of the Afghan mission or its personnel, but diplomatic sources said the Afghan embassy in Washington and Afghan missions in New York and Los Angeles would be closed.
The Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August, but the Taliban government has not been recognized by any country in the world, including the United States.
