Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdul Haiyan said that the implementation of the 25-year cooperation agreement between Iran and China has begun.
According to Al Jazeera, the Iranian Foreign Minister made the remarks during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. “Preparations for the visit to China included that we lay the groundwork for the implementation of the agreement today,” he said.
The agreement was signed in March 2021 in Tehran, promoting economic, military and security cooperation between the two countries. However, it should be borne in mind that both countries are subject to US sanctions, while on the other hand, both officials have not clarified the details of the implementation of this plan.
During his visit to China, Emir Abdul Hayyan also handed over a letter sent by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to Chinese President Xi Jinping, which Abdul Hayyan said contained an important message for Xi Jinping. Emir Abdul Haiyan did not elaborate on the details, but according to several statements made by Ibrahim Raeisi’s administration, China has been given special importance in Iran’s foreign affairs in the Asian region.
