In Peru, home to the ancient Maya civilization, artifacts have been discovered that are said to be the largest children’s altar in human history.
Historical references prove that in Peru, the Moshe civilization used to offer children to show off to humans and the Shimo civilization to please the gods, and now evidence of this has been found. Skeletons of 5 to 14 year old children who were killed 550 years ago have been found at one place.
Dozens of children’s remains have been discovered beneath a raised mound in northern Peru when experts from the National University of Trujillo and the University of New Orleans Tulin found it. Also found were the bodies of 200 llamas, a local camel-like animal from Peru.
“This is one of the largest and most terrifying children’s altars in the world,” said John Verano of Tulin University. These children have bruises on their bodies, their ribs are shaken and their chests have been cut, which suggests that their hearts may have been removed. The bodies of two women and a man, whose heads were badly crushed, were also found with the children. According to a cautious manner, this event took place in 1450.
It is believed that children, including boys and girls, were sacrificed to avoid repeated floods in the rivers. Some of these children are 5 years old while the average age of all lamas is 18 months.
