Khyber Pakhtunkhwa succeeds in defending Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy by defeating Northern team.

According to Express News, the final match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was played between Pakhtunkhwa and Northern at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 374 runs in the first innings, in response to which the Northern team could score 256 runs.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 265 in the second innings and gave Northern a target of 384 for victory, after which the opposing team piled up only 214 runs.

Fifth day match summary

On the last day of the five-day day and night final, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa started their second innings against Northern with 152 for five, giving them an overall lead of 270 against the rival team, with the last five players adding another 113 runs.

Rehan Afridi 79, Sajid Khan 39 and Iftikhar Ahmed 25 runs, Mubasir Khan 4, Waqas Ahmed 3 and Muhammad Nawaz 2 wickets.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gave Northern a target of 284 runs in 64 overs for the victory. Chasing the target, Northern team lost courage at 214 runs in 45.2 overs. Faizan Riaz scored 49, Imrameen 33 and Mohammad Nawaz 24 runs, Haider Ali 17 and Rohail Nazir 7 runs. Waqas and Mubasir Khan were bowled out for zero.

Northern batsman and highest run scorer in the event with 967 runs Mohammad Harera batted aggressively in the last innings and scored 57 runs but he too was in vain.

In the last innings, Pakhtunkhwa’s Sajid Khan led five Northern players to the pavilion while they took 9 wickets in the match. Wasim Jr. and Iftikhar shared 2.2 wickets each.

Rewards Ceremony

Iftikhar Ahmed, who scored a century in the first innings, was awarded the Player of the Final award.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa trophy was awarded Rs 10 million while the run-up team was awarded Rs 50 lakh.

Mohammad Hareera was awarded Rs 500,000 for scoring the most runs in the tournament while Ali Usman of Northern was the top bowler with 43 wickets and Rohail Nazir of Northern was the best wicket keeper who took 21 catches and 11 stumpings.
