Pyongyang: South Korea has pardoned former President Park Geun-hye, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison for corruption.
According to South Korean media, 69-year-old former President Park Geun-hye was sentenced to 22 years in prison in 2018 for corruption, bribery and abuse of power.
The former president is South Korea’s first elected leader to be ousted. The former president’s sentence has been commuted on the grounds of ill health. Earlier, President Manmohan Singh had announced that he would not pardon the former president, who was jailed for corruption.
