This conch was as big as a car!

Cambridge: Remains of a stepping stone have been discovered in Britain, about 9 feet tall, about the size of a car. But it had no spine at all!

The giant Kankhajura, dubbed the “Arthropleura”, lived 326 million years ago on the coast of Northumberland in present-day Great Britain, 64 km from Newcastle.

The rock was accidentally discovered in 2018 by a rock break, which British and German experts found important information after nearly two years of research.

First of all, it is known that this fossil is about 326 million years old, which is 100 million years before the time of dinosaurs.

It consists of incomplete and various body segments with a total length of 75 cm.

By looking at them, scientists have estimated that this conch would have been 2.7 meters (8.85 feet) tall when alive, while it may have weighed 50 kilograms.

Details of this strange and endangered conch have been published in the latest issue of the Journal of the Geological Society.

These details show that this area of Britain was close to the equator about 330 million years ago, where not only the heat was high but also the rainfall was good.

Due to this hot and humid environment, there may have been dense forests here where this conch and other similar animals may have evolved.
