KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the Sindh government and other parties on the request of Arzoo Fatima to go to her parents’ house regarding her conversion to Islam.
Justice KK Agha presided over the hearing of the case of conversion to Islam and marriage of choice. A new Muslim girl Arzoo Fatima requested to go to her parents’ house. Arooz Fatima approached the court through the shelter home.
In the petition, it was stated that the court had sent Arooz Fatima to a shelter home on November 2, 2020, after it was proved that she was married at an early age. Now Arooz Fatima wants to leave the shelter home with her parents.
Justice KK Agha remarked that we will decide after hearing Arzoo Fatima. The court also issued notices to the Sindh government and other parties.
It should be noted that Arzoo Fatima had converted to Islam and got married to a citizen named Ali Azhar. In Sindh, it is a crime to get married under the age of 18 while Arooz Fatima had earlier refused to go with her parents.
