Japan decides to recruit astronauts after 13 years

Tokyo: For the first time in 13 years, the Japanese space agency has decided to recruit astronauts.

According to the Japanese news agency The Mainichi, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has announced the recruitment of astronauts to be part of the International Space Station and the US-led moon exploration program.

The agency said it would start accepting applications from March 4 next year and would complete the recruitment process by February 2023.
The agency also said that candidates would have to undergo four more medical examinations after the preliminary examination. According to the agency’s website, candidates do not need experience working in space or in related fields.
