Corona’s victim, four members of the West Indies squad, returned home. The three players who left Karachi via Dubai were Sheldon Cottrell, Kyle Myers and Ruston Chase, as well as media manager Dario. Came into effect
It is to be noted that 9 members of the visiting squad were quarantined on the positive results of the Quaid 19 Test, while 21 members of the 30-member squad returned home after the scheduled ODI series between the two countries was postponed at the National Stadium Karachi after the T20 series. Corona’s nine members were quarantined for ten days at a local hotel.
It is worth mentioning that the 26-member West Indies squad arrived in Karachi on December 9 for a tour of Pakistan, while four members had arrived in Karachi from Dubai with the Pakistani team a day earlier. Media manager Dario’s Corona test, along with Chase and Kyle Myers, came back positive.
Later on December 16, three more players and two members of the support staff tested positive for Covid 19, including Shy Hope, Aqeel Hussain, Justin Graves, assistant coach Rudy Stoke and physician Akshay Man Singh. The quarantine has been completed while the last 6 members will have to remain in quarantine till December 26.
It may be recalled that the Pakistan cricket team had a clean sweep in the three T20 matches played at the start of the tour in Karachi. Muhammad Rizwan was declared the best player of the series while Babar failed in the first two matches. Azam performed well in the third T20 and along with Rizwan gave the team a 150-plus base.
This year, Rizwan and Babar’s bat was very active in the T20 format, due to which they were declared the number one pair in this format this year.
Prior to the third T20 match, more West Indies squad members were infected with the corona virus and it was feared that the third match might not be played. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board somehow asked the guest side to complete the short format series. However, the ODI series could not be played, thus the Caribbean players are returning home in groups after the incomplete series.
