Work stress and financial stress increase the risk of stroke by 30%, research shows

Stockholm: A lengthy study of more than 100,000 people in 21 countries found that work stress and financial stress increased the risk of heart disease and stroke by up to 30%.

The study used data from an international study, The Perspective Urban Rule Epidemiology (PURE), which began in 2002.

Known as “Pure”, the study continues today with more than 200,000 people from 26 countries, including Pakistan.
The latest research, led by Professor Anika Rosen Green of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, was conducted by more than two dozen experts from 21 countries, the results of which were published in the latest issue of the online research journal JAMA Network Open .

The details show that of the 21 countries selected for the study, five were low-income, twelve were middle-income, and four were high-income.

A total of 118,706 men and women between the ages of 35 and 70 from all these countries were used, while at the beginning of the Pure study they were healthy and on average 50 years old.

Taking into account the general health of all these people as well as their financial status and stress, it was found out which diseases they had in the next few years and what health problems they suffered from.

Careful analysis has shown that people who suffer from constant work stress and financial distress are at 24% more likely to develop heart and arterial disease over a 10-year period than those who do not have these problems, and up to 30% more likely to have a stroke. Was

Although previous research has clearly linked neurological stress and financial problems to various heart diseases and strokes, all of these studies were performed on people who were already suffering from some form of heart disease.

This is the first time that healthy people have been seen suffering from heart and arterial diseases due to financial stress and work stress. Not only that, but the rate of such people is so high that it cannot be ignored.

What are the factors that lead to heart disease and stroke in this whole process? We currently have some vague information about this.

However, more detailed research will be required to know them with complete accuracy and confidence.
