Washington: The United States has acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to implement the FATF Action Plan.
Acknowledging Pakistan’s counter-terrorism measures, the US Government’s annual report on terrorism states that in 2020, Pakistan took steps to combat terrorist groups and meet the demands of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
According to the report, terrorist attacks continued in Pakistan last year. Pakistani military and security forces have launched operations against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group ISIS and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) inside Pakistan.
The US report on terrorism also said that Pakistan had convicted five senior Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed, in terrorist financing cases.
The report states that Pakistan made additional progress in 2020 to complete the FATF Action Plan. Pakistan’s role and efforts for peace in Afghanistan were also appreciated.
