It may be recalled that a day earlier it was reported that Kohli wanted to rest in January due to which he will not be able to play ODI series against South Africa.
“When I announced before the World Cup that I would be leaving the T20 captaincy after the mega event, the top board officials welcomed the decision. I was never stopped from doing so,” Kohli said.
Kohli was referring to a statement by BCCI President Sarugangoli that he had barred Kohli from leaving the T20 leadership.
