How did this epidemic begin, when will it end and how different are its effects on each country? The answer to these questions is not so straightforward and easy.
Dr Michael Ryan, WHO’s emergency chief, said it was not just a matter of the number of corona cases, but of its severity and impact.
In January 2020, the WHO declared the coronavirus a global health crisis. A few months later, the United Nations declared it a global epidemic. At the time, the virus had spread to almost every continent in the world.
Most likely, the coronavirus threat will be averted once the WHO decides that there is no longer any threat to the world from the coronavirus.
Dr. Chris Wood, an infectious disease expert at Duke University, said: “Such a decision would not be so simple as to say one day that the coronavirus is gone. It is difficult to reach a global consensus on this. The elimination of Corona depends on a significant reduction in the rate of cases in the countries.
