BEIJING: China has reacted to the boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics by the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
According to the foreign news agency The Guardian, the Chinese government threatened the three countries, saying they would have to pay the price.
The decision to boycott the Beijing Olympics was first made by the United States. The United States has said the decision was prompted by the Chinese government’s mistreatment of the Uighur Muslim community.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Weinben said Britain, the United States and Australia were using the Olympic platform as a political sport. They will have to pay the price for this mistake.
On the other hand, French Minister of Education and Sports Jean-Michel Blanker said that France would not follow in the footsteps of the United States and other countries in this matter.
He also said that we should keep in mind the differences between sports and politics and we need to be very careful in this regard.
