Cleveland: American scientists have discovered that sildenafil, also known as Viagra, could potentially cure Alzheimer’s, a dangerous brain disease.
The study , published in the latest issue of the research journal Nature Aging, is of an early nature, with Viagra being named as one of the best possible remedies for Alzheimer’s disease.
The study explored an extensive database of the medical conditions and genetic makeup of millions of people, and found signs based on protein interactions that could lead to Alzheimer’s disease in the years to come.
With the help of powerful computers and special algorithms, scientists analyzed more than three and a half million protein interactions. And identified and separated the interactions that cause Alzheimer’s disease.
In the next phase, of the more than 1,600 drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration, drugs were found to maximize the ability to inhibit protein interactions that lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
At this stage, Viagra topped the list of drugs that appeared to be better at preventing Alzheimer’s disease, which is widely used worldwide as a “specific male pill”, while many countries have adopted Viagra for the same reason. Is also banned (these countries include Pakistan).
However, to further their satisfaction, experts have carefully analyzed the insurance claims filed by more than 7 million elderly people in the United States, their use of various drugs and the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease.
The study also found that people who were exposed to Alzheimer’s after an initial examination had a 69% lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s six years later than those who used Viagra.
The study’s authors warn that at present the study does not suggest that Viagra is actually a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. So far, the use of Viagra alone has reduced the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Can Viagra Really Cure Alzheimer’s Disease? Experts say we need more detailed but careful research to find out. Nothing can be said before that.
The good news is that Viagra has already been approved by the FDA, so its use for Alzheimer’s will not be too difficult.
It should be noted that there are more than 6.5 million Alzheimer’s patients worldwide, most of whom are 65 years of age or older.
Alzheimer’s disease causes rapid memory loss; The mind is always confused; Learning new things gets harder and harder; Difficulty in reading, writing and arithmetic and this condition is getting worse. Thoughts begin to disperse and strange thoughts begin to dominate the mind all the time. It becomes difficult to focus on something for a long time. However, coping with changing circumstances also seems to be a problem.
It is estimated that one in 9 people (11.3%) aged 65 or older worldwide develop Alzheimer’s disease, compared to 72% of the elderly aged 75 and over.
Alzheimer’s disease is still incurable, but if Viagra is really helpful in preventing it, it can cost a lot less than many expensive brain drugs.
