Sudanese army decides to reinstate PM under new agreement

Khartoum: Following the military coup in Sudan, the military leadership has decided to reinstate ousted Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk under an agreement and release imprisoned political leaders.

According to the World News Agency, negotiators between the military leadership and politicians announced that the Sudanese army had decided to reinstate ousted Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk following an agreement reached between political factions, former rebel groups and military figures. What is it.

Apart from the mediators, Ummah Party chief Fazlullah Burma Nasir also confirmed the agreement to reporters, saying that the transfer of power had been agreed upon between General Burhan, Abdullah Hamduk, political forces and civil society organizations.

Fazlullah Nasir added that Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk of the interim government would form an independent cabinet of technocrats and all political prisoners would be released under an agreement reached between the army and political parties.

It may be recalled that on October 25, the military leader Al-Burhan seized power and declared a state of emergency in the country and placed the caretaker Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk under house arrest.

The renewed military coup in the country was under intense international pressure as violent protests erupted across the country, resulting in casualties.

Sudan’s longest-serving president, Omar al-Bashir, had to step down in the wake of the 2019 uprising, which has left every interim government in crisis.
