Donald Tusk, one of the most important Polish politicians, lost his driving license for three months. “The fact that he exceeded the speed in built-up areas by more than 50 km / h in Poland is not a coincidence. With us you can simply do more” – says Sylwester Pawłowski from the educational project Conscious Driver.
The politician quickly responded to the matter. It is a pity that it is not very accurate

When a prominent politician breaks the law, it quickly gets loud. It is also often a clear signal that the situation becomes all the more serious when a person in an important position allows himself to disregard the regulations. On Saturday, November 20 in Wiśniewo in the province. Mazowieckie, the police detained a driver who was driving at a speed of 107 km / h in the built-up area. It turned out to be Donald Tusk.
“There is an infringement of the road law, there is a penalty of detaining the driving license for 3 months plus 10 points and a fine. Adequate. I accepted it without discussion” – the politician wrote in social media.
This is an outrageous situation. Driving in built-up areas at 107 km / h is not “staring”, it is a conscious decision to put yourself and others at risk of loss of health and life. Research shows that above 80 km / h we have a practically 100% chance that, in the event of a hit, we will kill the victim. Can the fine of PLN 500 and withholding the driving license for three months for such an act be called “adequate”, as Donald Tusk did? This is not a penalty, it is a fee for the possibility of breaking the rules – says Sylwester Pawłowski from the educational project Conscious Driver in an interview with Autokult.
It is not a coincidence that the politician allowed himself to behave like this behind the wheel in Poland. We have too much indulgence in breaking the road rules. Both social and regulatory. As for the former, we take them out of the house. Then, over the years, it is our DNA, which often does not change, even if we live in other countries for years, where, surprisingly, we are able to adapt and drive legally. Low penalties for road pirates should also be called indulgence. They have not changed for a quarter of a century. This proves how this topic was of little importance to politicians. Now we have a historic chance for the penalties to be clearly increased. And I hope it will happen – adds Sylwester Pawłowski.
