WASHINGTON / LONDON: The United States and Britain have warned their citizens not to stay in hotels in Afghanistan, especially those living in or near the Serena Hotel.
According to a foreign news agency, the United States and Britain have issued an alert for their citizens residing in Afghanistan and instructed them to refrain from using hotels.
The State Department says it has instructed its citizens in or near the Serena Hotel to evacuate immediately due to security concerns.
Similarly, a statement issued by the UK said that British citizens living in or near the Serena Hotel in Kabul should be relocated immediately but refrain from going to any other hotel.
Keep in mind that the world-famous Serena Hotel has been attacked twice before. The hotel is mostly occupied by foreign officials and is also popular with businessmen and foreign guests.
The directive from the United States and Britain came as the Taliban’s first two-day talks with the United States in Doha proved fruitless, and a suicide bombing at a mosque on Friday killed more than 100 people.
It should be noted that this is the same Serena Hotel whose ridiculous news of the stay of Pakistan Army officers on the fifth floor was aired by Indian anchor Arnab Goswami in his show even though the hotel is only two storeys high.
