ISLAMABAD: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has announced in the meeting of advisory committee to further reduce the water of Punjab and Sindh in Rabi season.
According to Express News, the meeting chaired by IRSA Chairman Saif Anjum said that Punjab and Sindh would face 28% water shortage in Rabi season.

Punjab has been allotted 14.361 million acre feet (MAF), Sindh 10.827 MAF, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 0.701 MAF and Balochistan 1.022 MAF. Balochistan, on the other hand, has been directed to present a working paper on the demand for 1.026 MAF additional water at the next meeting of IRSA.
It was also informed in the meeting that 26.911 MAF water would be available for the provinces in Rabi season. The water inflow for Rabi season 2021-2022 is estimated at 21.592 MAF and the water storage for Rabi this year is 7.414 MAF. Transportation losses for the Rabi season are estimated at 2,044 MAF, while 0.052 MAF of water is estimated to have flowed into the sea during the cleanup.
